Filing ADIZ Flight Plan via DUATS
Posted by: AdminXon Thursday, October 27, 2005 - 05:27 PM |
With the best intentions, we sent out the procedures for filing VFR ADIZ flight plans via DUATS (available here in pdf format). . One of the pilots at Aviation Adventures of Leesburg quickly let us know that DUATS does not accept intersections as destinations or departure points.
DUATS does accept fix/radial/distance(FRD), i.e MRB223019, or lat/long. Please use the FRD and put the intersection name in the route. I have included the appropriate FRD for each of the arrival/departure intersections. The VORTAC points are good.
Sorry for the problem, if any others come up. please let us know.

Notes from 9/15/2004 Potomac Consolidated TRACON Visit

On September 15, 2004 a group from GAI met with controllers from the Chesapeake Region (old Balt. Approach) of the Potomac Consolidated TRACON to discuss ADIZ procedures, with a view toward establishing standardized procedures. These notes from that meeting have been reviewed with one of the controllers but of course do not represent official pronouncements of the FAA and should be used with caution by pilots. As the procedures are continuing to evolve, these notes may not reflect current practice.

Dulles East Downwind Transition

ATC'er Gary Harris gave a presentation at the September 24, 2003 MCAA Meeting describing a "shortcut" when heading south from GAI. He presented what is known as the "East Downwind Transition" at Dulles (IAD). It's often possible to take this route instead of going all the way around IAD, toward MRB, when heading south.
